A giant version of the eponymous enemies from the Metroid series, Super Metroid is incredibly broken and was largely banned from existence after one tournament. It has infinite flight which makes it hard to hit, seems to stop taking damage at will, deals ridiculous amounts of damage--literally infinite damage if it ever felt like it, and can drain the opponent's life to heal itself. While far from the most broken character to ever be allowed in a tournament, its list of advantages was considered to be too great and it hasn't been spoken of in quite some time.
